Introduction
We at the British Olympic Association (“we” or “our” or “us”) want to make sure all the personal information we have collected about you on the Team GB Homecoming Website is safe and secure. This Policy set outs our commitments to you and explains how we collect, store and use your personal information. Please note that this privacy policy should be read in conjunction with the Team GB Homecoming Ballot Terms and Conditions.
To whom does this policy apply?
This policy applies to any individual (“User”) entering the Team GB Homecoming ballot via https://www.teamgbhomecoming.com (the “Site”).
What information do we collect?
We only collect necessary and relevant information which we receive from you via our Site. The information you provide to us includes (but is not limited to):
- Data that can be used to identify you (e.g first name and surname).
- Contact data (e.g. email address).
- Information as to whether you have chosen to receive future marketing communications from us and/or selected third parties.
How do we use your personal information?
We use the information we collect on the Site to:
- Inform you about the Team GB Homecoming event
- Provide you with the tickets requested
- Process your order
- Communicate with you about the event
- Answer your questions and/or address your problems
We also process data for purposes other than strict performance of contract, having first ensured the legitimate interest in carrying out such processing. The purposes for which we may process your data (including sharing your data as described below) are:
- Planning, logistical and other operational matters relating to the organisation of the Team GB Homecoming event.
- Identifying and correcting bugs that may occur on our Site to ensure their proper functioning.
If you have consented when submitting your personal data (e.g. by ticking or not ticking a consent box) we may also use your personal information, as stated above, to send you our marketing communications and news about Team GB.
How long will we keep your personal information for?
Your personal data will be retained for as long as needed to fulfil the purposes set out in this Policy, within the legal time limits.
Disclosure of your information
In order to provide our products and services to you or to otherwise fulfil contractual arrangements that we have with you, we may need to appoint other organisations to carry out some of the data processing activities on our behalf. This includes Corporate Innovations Group who are building the Site, building the mechanism to collect the data and storing the data securely. Once the data has been securely transferred to us, Corporate Innovations Group will delete such data. In addition, we may share your data with third parties (a) if we are under a legal or regulatory duty to do so, (b) if it is necessary to do so to enforce our terms of use, terms and conditions of sale or other contractual rights, (c) to lawfully assist the police or security services with the prevention and detection of crime or terrorist activity, (d) where such disclosure is necessary to protect the safety or security of any persons, and/or (e) otherwise as permitted under applicable law. If we transfer your personal information to territories outside the United Kingdom or the EEA, we will take proper steps to ensure that your information is protected in accordance with this privacy policy for the foregoing purposes. In all instances where we disclose your information to third parties, we will ensure that your information is appropriately protected.
Can I request a copy of my personal information?
You can request a copy of information held about you at any time by contacting privacy@teamgb.com. We reserve the right to charge a fee of £10 per request for such requests. Subject to verifying your identity, we will respond to any such requests with the information requested within 30 days.
Under 18s
Our Site does not intentionally collect children’s personal information and we do not allow children under the age of 18 to register on our Site. We encourage parents to educate their children about the need to protect their privacy and about the way they communicate on the Internet.

Security of your personal information
We attach the utmost importance to the security and integrity of the personal data of Users. Consequently, and in accordance with applicable regulations, we undertake to take all necessary precautions to preserve the security of the data and in particular to protect it against any accidental or unlawful destruction, accidental loss, alteration, unauthorised distribution or access, as well as against any other form of unlawful processing or communication to unauthorised persons. We are required to have appropriate safeguards in place to protect the personal data we process. Although we will meet this requirement, we cannot accept any responsibility for any loss, disruption or damage to your data or your computer system which may occur whilst using material derived from this website. As best practice, we also strongly recommend that you regularly run an anti-virus programme on all material downloaded from the Internet. We only allow access to our paper bases systems and computerised databases when it is absolutely necessary to do so. We have security procedures in place to protect our systems and databases from loss and misuse. In the event that we become aware of a data breach which affects or is likely to affect your personal data, we will contact you as soon as reasonably practicable by email with details of the breach and of the steps we will take/ have taken in order to remedy the breach.

Our Site may contain links to other websites which are outside our control and are not covered by this Privacy Policy.
